BALANCE:
Definition: An even distribution of weight enabling someone or something to remain upright and steady.
A condition in which different elements are equal or in the correction proportions.
keep or put (something) in a steady position so that it does not fall.
The pursuit of one’s dream isn’t a full charge up a hill because it has dips and valleys and unforeseen paths. It will provide stops along the way and areas to explore and times to reflect.
Honestly, we all have to be continually reminded to keep a balance of what really matters in life as we maintain a steady plodding towards the goal. As the definition states to keep or put something in a steady position so that it does not fall is perfect! So what we need to remember is that even though we want to rush full on into the many business projects and charge up the hill towards our goal … STOP and retract and invest in the meaningful things of life that are not business related.
As a dear friend and mentor (Aaron Walker aka Big A) always says, “You don’t want to come home with a pocket full of cash to a house full of strangers”. So keeping a balance and being present in the life’s moments is what I think is a key to success. Should you get too far out of line you are liable to fall and or fail. No one wants to do either.
When you have made such steady progress up the hill you may fall at times. Falling usually will hurt you because you may have to start the process over again and will require time to recover and time to get back in balance and identify a side of life you were neglecting.
Think about this: If you are spending too much time with family and friends and neglecting a job or career you are out of balance and may very well loose your job. On the other hand and a most common scenario is you spend too much time working at your job and on your career and you lose your family. It’s seems so simple and easy this thing called Balance, but it’s not.
Keeping Balance is tough work. I personally have found that the only way to be successful is surrounding myself with other people of like mind. I allow and want them to hold me accountable and for them to ask me the balancing act questions such as: Phil when was the last time you had a date night with your lovely wife? Phil, when was the last time you opened God’s word and read a few chapters? Phil, what did you do to work on your business and not in your business? You get the drift? It’s about allowing TRUSTED people that are in your life to ask you the questions. These are the questions that help keep you from getting out of balance.
(Scott Beebe from my business on purpose recently asked me these exact questions, thank you Scott for the needed push up the hill)
The photo I’ve shared always brings me GREAT joy. Talk about BALANCE or perhaps this would be IMBALANCE.
My son Parker who is just all heart, approaches everything he does with a loving spirit and caution (notice the helmet and hands at 10 and 2). Then there is Ella, my daughter. She seems to live life a little on the spicy side. She is along for the ride with her arm outside the vehicle (Lighten McQueen to be exact) and sticking her tongue out at whatever seems to warrant fear.
It is my prayer that as they grow that they will eventually pick up and absorb each other’s strengths so they are more balanced. It would certainly make my life more balanced.
Until the next time … Keep Progressing to the highest of heights but remember to MAINTAIN BALANCE as you PROPEL YOUR DREAM!
Cheers!
You’re awesome PS! Proud of what you are building!
